VolumnBooster Privacy Policy
Updated: July 2, 2026
Your privacy is deeply important to us. VolumnBooster was designed to operate locally on your device and respect your security. It does not require any registration, user accounts, or personal details to use.
This Privacy Policy explains how Dreammers Studio ("we", "us", or "our") handles information in connection with the VolumnBooster macOS application ("App"), distributed through the Mac App Store.
1. Summary
- VolumnBooster does not require an account or collect personal information.
- Real-time audio processing is performed strictly in local volatile memory (RAM). We never record, save, store, or transmit your audio.
- Your app preferences, settings, and configurations are stored locally on your device.
- Premium transaction entitlements are managed securely and anonymously through RevenueCat and the **Apple App Store**.
2. What Information Do We Collect?
We believe in data minimization. The App is structured to collect as little as possible:
- No personal info: We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, contacts, or location.
- No user accounts: There is no sign-in or sign-up requirement, meaning we have no profile or identity linked to you.
- No audio logging or tracking: The app processes system and application audio levels in real-time. This audio data is temporary, remains strictly local, and is never captured, written to disk, or sent to a server.
If macOS provides us with anonymous, aggregated crash reports and diagnostics, and you have opted in to share diagnostics in your macOS system preferences, that information is supplied in an anonymous form and is used solely to resolve crashes and improve App stability.
3. Real-Time Audio Processing & Taps
To perform volume amplification (boosting beyond 100%) and enable per-app volume adjustments, VolumnBooster uses modern macOS CoreAudio APIs (specifically, process taps). This is a driver-free approach that captures the audio buffer of running processes and applies gain multipliers in system memory before outputting it.
This process is entirely transient. The captured sound buffers are processed in real-time and instantly released. We do not write audio streams to disk, nor do we transfer audio data over the internet.
4. Data Stored on Your Device
To operate and remember your settings, VolumnBooster saves the following files locally on your Mac:
- App settings (such as theme preferences, hotkeys, safe maximum volume caps).
- Volume preferences for individual applications (so that their custom sound levels are restored when the app starts).
- Local cache of your in-app purchase and subscription entitlement status.
All of this data stays on your local hard drive and can be cleared by resetting App preferences or deleting the App.
5. Permissions Required
To enable sound management, the App utilizes the following macOS permissions:
- Audio Capture / Microphone Access: Due to macOS security requirements, process taps and capturing system audio output require the audio capture entitlement. When prompted by macOS for Microphone/Audio access, you must allow it for the volume booster to operate. Rest assured, we never record, listen to, or store your microphone or system sound.
- Network Client: The App requires network access only to communicate with the App Store and RevenueCat servers to verify subscriptions or lifetime purchases, and to fetch the latest Premium offerings.
6. Third-Party Services
We work with trusted partners to manage in-app purchases and distribution:
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to verify in-app purchases, subscriptions, and manage Premium entitlements. RevenueCat handles transaction receipts and validation anonymously. For more information, please see RevenueCat's Privacy Policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Apple App Store: Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple's payment system. Your financial data and Apple account are governed by Apple's privacy policy at apple.com/legal/privacy.
7. Your Choices and Rights
Since your settings and audio processing are fully local, you remain in complete control:
- You can disable Audio/Microphone permissions for VolumnBooster in System Settings > Privacy & Security at any time. (Note: this will disable the volume boosting and mixing capabilities).
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions from your Apple ID account settings.
- You can remove all locally stored app data by uninstalling the App and deleting its container directory.
8. Children's Privacy
VolumnBooster is a general utility app and does not collect, request, or target personal data from children under the age of 13.
9. Changes to the Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Updated" date.
